The Agency for Support for BEREC (BEREC Office) is a European Union (EU) Agency supporting the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) in the fulfilment of its mission to ensure the consistent implementation of the European regulatory framework for electronic communications. To achieve this, the BEREC Office provides all necessary professional and administrative support for the work of BEREC, including financial, organisational and Information and Communications Technology services, and contributes to BEREC’s regulatory work for the benefit of citizens throughout Europe.

Establishment

The BEREC Office was established by Regulation (EU) 2018/1971 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 establishing the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the Agency for Support for BEREC (BEREC Office) – the BEREC Regulation – replacing Regulation (EC) No 1211/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2009 establishing the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the Office. The BEREC Office is established as a body of the EU. In the light of the BEREC Regulation, the Agency changed its name from Office to Agency for Support for BEREC. As a decentralised EU Agency, the BEREC Office maintains its legal, administrative and financial autonomy and the legal personality to exercise the powers conferred on it.
