BEREC Vice-Chair, Prof. Kostas Masselos participates in the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24) 

BEREC Vice-Chair, Prof. Kostas Masselos (EETT, Greece), took part in the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24) organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Kampala, Uganda, from July 1 to July 4, 2024. 

Today, 2 July 2024, Prof. Masselos joined the "Space Economy" panel, which focused on the expansion of satellite networks and their new applications addressing economic, business, and societal challenges. The session explored regulatory measures for an inclusive, safe, and sustainable space economy, including future services like mobile satellite direct-to-mobile devices.

Prof. Masselos highlighted key regulatory challenges of satellite technologies and their role in achieving connectivity objectives. He also discussed the development towards 6G networks and the integration of terrestrial and satellite networks, emphasizing the need for cohesive regulatory frameworks.
