On 25 February 2015,  in Berne, Switzerland, BEREC held a public Workshop on oligopoly analysis and regulation, kindly hosted by hosted by the Swiss Federal Communications Commission (ComCom) and Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM / BAKOM / UFCOM).

The Workshop was held with the objective to trigger additional reflection regarding the application of the existing regulatory framework to oligopolistic situations and their impact on the market regulation.

The workshop was structured around 3 panel discussions. The 1st panel was dedicated to the trends leading to oligopolistic market structures in Europe, among which are the mergers and acquisitions. The main speakers at this panel were a Representative of the Chief Competition Economist at DG Competition (European Commission), the Heads of ComCom and RTR and representatives of the following stakeholders: ECTA, ETNO, GSMA, EAFM and Cable Europe.

The ComCom President in his presentation made an overview of the Swiss experience: the non-merger of Orange and Sunrise. The presentation has been made available to the public.
