Launch of a comments round of BoR electronic voting procedure on EC questionnaire on the implementation and application of the universal service provisions – a synthesis of the results

On 3 March 2014 the European Commission (EC) informed BEREC that DG CONNECT had started its preparations for the fourth review of the scope of universal service. In order to base the review on solid evidence, the Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) of the EC sent a questionnaire to BEREC aimed at gathering accurate information on the implementation and actual application of the universal service rules in each Member State of the European Union.

The questionnaire was sent to all BEREC Members and Observers. All NRAs from the European Union Member States and six non EU countries have responded to the questionnaire. The synthesis of the main results of the replies to the EC questionnaire is now submitted to the BEREC Members for approval by electronic voting procedure.

The comments round was launched by the BEREC Chair on 26 June with a deadline for reply by 27 June 2014. After examining the comments received, a final version of the document will be submitted to the Board of Regulators for approval.
